i remember in college going down to ingersoll to the greenwood...leaving smelling like a campfire...now that was a "dive" bar. there has to be age and deterioration components to the current definition, right?
I'm not 100% sure, but it appears that way. He has merch links and everything. I've only watched a few of his stops, but they are usually pretty cool! Sometimes he stumbles upon old supper clubs.
I met the King of the Hobos at the bar there one night. My roommate and I bought him a couple of drinks and he shared an hour of stories. Probably some of the best money I ever spent on alcohol.
The best dive bars are in river towns. From Dubuque to Burlington on both sides of the river, there are some real crazy stories and a whole lotta Pabst.
Yes! I end up at Doris Tavern every few years when I have a few beers in Btown. At Oak Street, we went to Haller's often after school to play Cue Ball (just chalk up the cue balls and play for free). I lived across the street from the North Hill Tap my first year at SCC.
