I was on a menswear forum with Michael Anton for many years. If you plan to work in the Trump White House and have a petty rivalry with him, let me know. I can help you say things around him that will get under his skin. @sebgorka.bsky.social

In retrospect, we should have seen the “Flight 93 Election” essay coming when he published a book in the style of Machiavelli but all about men’s suits
I don’t know if you’ve always been pleasantly this spicy and it was throttled on Twitter and I didn’t see it, or this is Bluesky spicy, but I like it 😘
This is my greatest fear: that one day, someone I know professionally will figure out my identity and will follow me around all day saying "you know, supply and demand don't actually apply to a lot of resources".
Is it weird that now I long to work with this man just so I can do this to him? I am filled with a level of greed for pettiness that I have experienced few times in my life.
My general strategy would be to antagonize this incoming administration via whatever works best. Their stated purpose is so vile that a LOT of things would be on the table. But if doing this is how you feel is the most effective way to antagonize them, that's absolutely the best way
I think Anton had drifted away from Styleforum before I started posting there, but within days of joining I was familiar with his legend as a crotchety prick with weird ideas.
It's going to be a very long four years. This is exactly the means to get through it. Small, yet satisfying, digs into the soft underbellies of fragile minions...
@sebgorka.bsky.social congrats on your winning lottery ticket.
@dieworkwear.bsky.social is the last person on earth that I’d want going ‘reply guy’ on me; I’d pay him actual USD to be my attorney in ANY litigation, knowing full damn well he isn’t a lawyer.
This can be very simple things, like nonchalantly saying that white dress shirts go with everything. Say it confidently and matter-of-factly. Keep talking about it, even if he doesn't reply. I promise you this will make him very mad.
Ok but a lot of men could benefit from having a white dress shirt and wearing it with any suit/sport coat would elevate their style from where it is currently.
I have a whole list of things like this. Tell him you're going to get a gray flannel suit with patch pockets. Or confidently assert that Hermes ties are the best. These small comments will add up, chip him down day by day. By the third month, he will blow up in front of Trump and come off unhinged
Here is a very easy one that will work well in a Trump White House: wear a red tie and express how it's in good taste. Talk about how red ties are a mark of a sophisticated dresser. I can tell you from having been with him on a forum that this will make him incredibly annoyed.
thats the kind of poster you constantly sneek bully. bring it up as you're admitting defeat in an argument to any rando. "...but at least i dont have latin in my signature"
Yes, Mike was an anti-Trumper for a long time. He started the first anti-Trump thread on the forum (slide one). In a convo about how to pair shirt and tie colors, someone posted a photo of Trump as a positive example. Mike countered with a simple rule: "trump = don't" (slide two)
@adrienneleigh.bsky.social put it better. The quote says "it serves", not "to serve". Then again, one translator took even more liberties and went with "Such is the character of the mob; either they are cringing slaves or ruthless tyrants"
Devotedly writing agitprop in defense of your fascist President, while all the while holding him in contempt for his tie color choice must be a hard row to hoe.
Health lunatic RFK had to eat a Big Mac in front of Trump. Trump likes humiliating people like that. I think it's a classic cult move to break someone's identity away from them so all that's left is love for dear leader.
I almost feel bad watching these people sacrifice their dignity to a man who will backstab them at the slightest convenience. I probably should feel worse, but I mean, it's The Aristocrats up there.
80% of the people around trump secretly loathes him.
Half of them are too greedy and hungry for power to admit it, and the other half are scared of him.
I was worried moving over here would mean I would no longer get to witness Derek dropping off the top rope onto clown after clown. I am so glad you are pulling screen shots to set yourself up and dunk on them over here as well. And all that done without a collar gap.
But is Sebastian Gorka really the guy you want to be building up/supporting here? Or is it just all sand in the gears and any infighting (so inevitable in this administration) is just to be encouraged?
From reading all up and down this thread and from following Derek for quite a while, I'm getting the sense that it's a sand in the gears thing. The more infighting within the administration, the better.
Depending on how you want to dress, burgundy ties can be considered ok, but bright red ties, such as the ones Trump wears, would be considered low taste. That said, this is menswear nerd stuff; no one in real life cares.
Hermes ties are not the best? Wait, what? For their women’s scarves, I wish they’d come out with some that are long and rectangular rather than the dated squares, but the silk and hand-rolled edges are excellent. What’s the matter with their ties?
It's amazing. These folks are eagerly joining a government organization that is gleefully fantasizing about shooting it own citizens and openly planning several possible crimes against humanity but a slight interpersonal squabble is the step too far.
You're everywhere. Have insight to everything. They say that if you want information on an individual, talk to the bathroom attendant, but it seems you may just want to talk to Derek Guy.
I appreciate your all your stellar qualities and menswear advice, but most of all, I appreciate your devastating use of sarcasm and phrasing. You have a keen sense of revenge being a dish best served cold, and often by others.
Why would a guy who is considered being a deputy national security advisor be on a menswear forum so long and so actively that someone can casually drop hints about how to drive him bananas?
I am not a man and I don't wear suits..but I sure get sucked into your posts. Sometimes I think, a giant vintage brooch would tie that whole ensemble together.
Thank you, thank you. Deep, deep dives on the important ephemera of life with an tasty layer of snark on top is why I’ve been coming to the Internet for 30 years.

i thumb my nose at thee!
My G-d this man is a gift!

My cousin Vinny on steroids.
Just asking.
I would pay real money to see it.
I see he spent a lot of time having opinions about menswear… at least 11 a day…
Had to look it up. It's a quote from Livius: "such is the nature of the crowd: either to serve humbly or to rule arrogantly"
Half of them are too greedy and hungry for power to admit it, and the other half are scared of him.
"Or confidently assert that Hermes ties are the best..."
I mean, just look at Bannon!!!!
How do we feel about berets?
It's one of his special gifts.
Keep fighting the Good fight, Paladin.
