I think they use RN on a few screens but not for any of the main parts of the app. Same w Instagram.

They likely have some react-native components, but the core and bulk of the app is probably Swift

😹. I downloaded it and played around w it some even though I’m not a T-Mobile user. I thought it was fine on most screens! Some things could have felt slightly better but it wasn’t offensive or anything.

Agreed. But there might be other factors at play, like prebuilt reusable native code.

I think it was one of the reasons Walmart looked into RN for a while but ended on native.

Any fully greenfield app is definitely better off with Expo though.

Why so much negativity towards Swift in this community? In my experience, developing in Swift was always way less painful and confusing then now with RN, like you could put breakpoint in the code and the debugger would just work

Sure, I can see RN benefits now, but this bickering is annoying

Swift is great. No-one here is saying it’s bad. If anything, incorporating native code into RN is one of RN’s strengths.

Could be just a wrong impression, but I’ve seen some people complaining about other people’s choices of going native

And as a formerly native developer myself it’s a bit hurtful, specially because I had to abandon native code because of my clients 😢
