"Immunity debt" becomes increasingly absurd as time passes since mitigations ended and the impacts of more and more infectious diseases continue to get worse.

16/30 kids in my daughter’s class were away sick last Friday. I see that I can count on our entire family being very sick for days, at least once per winter.
but people won't give it up. kids, who went thru a pneumonia episode in 2023, went through at least one in 2024, and somehow that too is seen as still catching up. I don't understand parents and grandparents - maybe they don't want to feel guilty?!
Do you have clear long-term data proving this? Flu waves can be severe sometimes. This year it's rather severe, in Europe flu B rose earlier than in previous years.

"Just one more infection and your immune system will be fighting fit"
No. The immune system is not a muscle.
