I could see it from both sides, I think. As a GS main on Monster Hunter, I always associate holding the button with charge-attacks, so I tend to need to re-learn inputs after I've played DMC for a while.
All that aside, this animation is drop-dead gorgeous.

AYYY this looks great! And yeah using the same kinda logic DMC uses- it takes a bit getting used to but in turn it allows for so many different combos by having different branching combos based on the way you press the button (be it rapid tap, a beat between presses, a rhythm or a hold.)

She does use the triangle button for moves with other properties (Launcher, gap closer, guard break) But her those moves are separate from her basic combo string variations because I want her to be able to use those moves at any point if she is already in the middle of mashing out her basic string.

I love those kind of controls, where you make different finishes to the combos if you change how you press the buttons. The Dynasty Warriors games were a good reason for that XD

Incredibly satisfying to look at, instant follow fosho. I miss good ol pixel art beat em ups or at least the anims. Seeing them makes me smile.
