This is one book from my childhood I've often thought I should re-read, to see if I'm still as shocked & horrified by it now that I'm an adult. Sort of.
I taught it to freshmen.The conch stayed on my desk.We did a mini lesson on Freudian psychology using βWhere the Wild Things Areβ. And at the end of the unit we had an inquest. Everyone wrote their own decision.I still have a BA flight bag filled with a bloody rock and Piggyβs broken glasses.Fun.
Lol. This actually happened in my freshman honors English class. Teacher was called away and we acted like immature kids (huge surprise). Other teachers complained. Mr. Campbell, who firmly believed high IQ's conferred some kind of superiority, was so pissed. Turns out book smart is just that.
