The characters feel so rich and complex—Dorothea’s idealism, Casaubon’s rigidity, Rosamund’s charm (and flaws). And I’ll have to check out that Substack—sounds like a great guide to Tolstoy. I’m currently doing a readalong to To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf! 😀

Middlemarch has been incredible so far—such a rich and thoughtful story. What do you love most about it?
I love the characters in Middlemarch. Dorothea, Causabon, Rosamund and the doctor all seem like real people to me.
