This was taken at Loblaws today. Strawberries were drastically reduced in price. Canadian customers put them back once they read the strawberries were from Florida. Basically, couldnβt give them away π¨π¦

I think if they aren't organic they aren't safe to eat anyway. Driscolls are pretty toxic for example. Loblaws will hurt at first but when they stop buying from the US they'll be ok.
Slight correction. The strawberries were on sale in the weekly flyer for $1.99. I went to the Ottawa and Gatineau stores. They listed Mexico on their ad, as well as USA. There were no Mexican strawberries available. I agree that many were not purchased because of the USA origin. I didnβt buy any. π
Big problem with any food from the US now is with the massive reduction in staff at various govt agencies responsible for food safety & agricultural practices all food (fresh or processed)from the US is in question as to its safety. EU has very high & strict standards as to food safety.
