Deregulation. Which went fairly smoothly and goosed the economy, allowing Reagan to take credit, creating the myth that GOP is good on the economy, and gave us 12 years of GOP sabotaging government.

Carter had a fairly mediocre Presidency (which still puts him well ahead of many). He far and away had the greatest post-Presidency of anyone to hold the office.
