We live in a society that is still so unforgiving of people with invisible disabilities, despite all of the progress we've made. Hell, even the process for claiming PIP is still so dehumanising. It's harder to keep hold of my pride because I think so much about how people perceive me.

Just yesterday, I was volunteering at an arts event, and I… admittedly spent half of it flirting with one of my colleagues – #AutisticRizz. But I worry that if she saw how I struggle, she wouldn't want anything to do with me.

And I realised: because I internalised all of this crap, it made me feel less worthy of being loved. And that's something that most of us want to find in our lives, you know? I'm robbing myself of my own humanity because I'm so caught up in what people think or might think.

So what's the solution? Er… dismantle the structural inequalities that disabled people face and encourage folks to unlearn the ableist attitudes they may have picked up, I guess? And how we will do that? Honestly, no clue. But you folks who are more intelligent than me can suggest ideas.
