I've had a few over the years! Right now, my pick is the Pilot Precise v7 (with the Uniball Signo 207 a close second) for general writing and the Bic Round Stic Grip for scratch notes (so smooth!). All in 0.5mm (or even 0.3mm) if possible. Always a hot take but I'm not a Pilot G2 fan. Too scratchy. - ThreadSky

Also, you didn't ask, but for pencils my pick is either a Rotring 600 drafting pencil (it's got a nice weight to it!) or a Uniball Kuru Toga Roulette (it rotates the 'lead' as you write so it never gets flat!). But you'll hardly ever catch me using pencil either way.

It's mechanical. It's made out of plastic so you don't really get the nice feel you get with a drafting pencil, but the rotating lead is a really neat concept so it gets extra points for that.

I have a few of the Kuru Toga Elite. Knurled metal grip that has it feeling inline with most other drafting pencils. And IIRC, it's got a higher gearing for the rotation feature, keeping the wear more even than the normal models. They've fully replaced my GraphGear 500s.

i think the draw towards the pilot g2 IS bc of the scratchyness, but it isn't for everyone!!

the uniball signo 207 is so perfect for signatures, i have some with me right now. those get a bit runny in my experience tho :((

The Precise is a liquid ink pen so you get the smudges and dry time that come with it, but you also get bold, dark lines that don't fade as you keep writing like you get with gel inks.
