This is a work by Ben Shahn. His artwork produced in the 1930s until his death in 1969 generally reflected a progressive, pro-civil rights, pro-immigrant and pro-labor perspective. This piece, produced in 1968, was entitled “Despair”. 1968 was a bad year. I fear 2025 will be far worse.
