I'm a huge fan of onshoring, for environmental (lower carbon footprint), ethical (less modern slavery/human rights risk) & social (local jobs) reasons; I just wish it was happening to deliver lower impact circular economy here rather than create chemical bombs to blow cities/people up & destroy life
Not just lower carbon footprint, shipping things around the world kills and injureswhales and sea mammals who support Ocean (and hence overall) Ecosystems human/mammal life depends on; it spreads invasive species in ballast water, dirties air with diesel, and means "throw away" mentality of "waste"
Well, until Russia withdraws (are we thinking how we might let Putin w/o loss of face at home?), yes, we need to protect.
Do wish a lot more financial levers were pulled first; seizing Russian assets to pay defence a step.

I don't disagree with defence, yet weapons should be a last resort after all other efforts are made.
Yet it appears it is only in recent weeks that Russian assets have started to be seized? And not clear if that includes in Swiss banks.?
For now, is there not complicity in funding Russia's bombing?
Why no talk of alleged complicity? "Still operatng in Russia with incrsng revenue vols 2022 vs 2021 (+$223mn or +5%). Profit vols also incrsd 2022 vs 21. Permanent magnets are important for radar systems - and used in Europe's (still world-beating) wind sector.
