Feel very good about Tottenham and Dom Solanke. Big money, as always for an English player, but there’s such range and selflessness to his game. Goals and awareness of the team around him, with and without the ball.

He’s excellent. I was really surprised a) he was nowhere near the England squad for the Euros and b) Spurs pretty much had the field to themselves in the summer. His stats for Spurs look average, but his performances don’t
Re other clubs, I think age maybe counted against him (and Toney) in the summer. There’s a hyper focus on resale value and it has made a lot of clubs terrified of spending big money on players who are about to turn 27/28
I think that’s it. The top level numbers aren’t all that, but he’s been quietly very good. England surprises me, because he’d be a useful Kane deputy and so different to Watkins.
He's an absolute machine with his running and hold up play. The ball isn't being lost in the final 1/3 as much this season and we're much better for it.
Agree. Crucially, he’s also such a highly competent press catalyst. So much of that is about angles, creating triggers & tenacity. He sets the tempo which permeates through the team & makes others better. He needs a decent backup because that work rate across all the minutes is unsustainable #COYS
But it doesn't really matter though IMO If the goals are coming from across the team - we are the top scorers in the league and the goals are spread right through the team - so much better than when we were so reliant on Kane and son
We are top scorers in the league by a comfortable margin and have no individual players near the top of the golden boot race.
I think that's a good sign.
Perfect cut-back for Porro. In stride, allowed him to saunter into it and absolutely hammer it. Super impressed with Solanke so far, great pressing from the front too
I do still miss Kane's excellence in front of goal and his ability to put Son in 1v1 -- but what I really dream for is a Bale-clone to play in Ange's system. How amazing would that be?
Counting stats are such a boring way to judge players. They call it ‘box score watching’ in American sports. Assists, clean sheets and even goals don’t necessarily paint the full picture of how well a player is doing.
That baseball style obsession over stats is quite inane -- we who watch the games can see how Solanke is a massive contributor to the shape and drive of the team. I'm sure there are plenty of other stats that tell the Solanke story, but the eye test is good enough for me.
Very happy to have got to watch him the last few years at Bournemouth, even in what was perceived as a down year 22/23 he was always so consistently good to watch and he does so much for the team.
He’s a wonderful player. Does so many things well, blend of running and physical gifts and incredible technical ability and ability to run at defenders and dribble past them like a winger. It’s so impressive.
Watching him every other week live has been an absolute joy. He's absolutely astounding, up close. Never stops running, pressing, harrying... But he's also incredibly skilful and so strong, it's just ridiculous.
Obviously Haaland is an elite, arguably world class finisher, but yesterday, it looked as though Solanke had a better all-round game and contributed more to Spurs play than Haaland did to Man City's game.

he’s so technically gifted and has an unstoppable engine. what a player.
we’ve been awaiting the 1v1 specialist since day one of ange, so hopefully we bring in someone exceptional soon.
