Except, isn't part of the plan being that we're at the start of the painful rebuild - overhauling the squad with young, high-upside youngsters who fit into a coherent project. These young players' contracts are then renewed & increased as they & the team progresses; a la Dele, Eriksen, Dier, etc.
Yes, but you also need first team ready players to add some steel and experience, some players in the 24-27 bracket so that when they peak the 18 year old kids are 22/23 and have a solid base
Don't disagree, but isn't that what we have in Son, Bentancur, Bissouma, Romero, Porro, Solanke, Kulu, Vicario, Maddison? The problem is their injury absences.
The club's plan is to be a top destination for players like Gray & Bergvall (& Odobert). This is painful, but it will pay off.
I mean, how far away do we think Gray & Bergvall will be next season from t level Rice was at Westham?
If that level is t foundation of our team next season, that makes us competitive for t top 4. With that expectation, we can see that perhaps our expectations for this season need(ed) adjustment.
They won’t want to stay if we get relegated. I don’t disagree with the point your making but the examples of senior players in the end is not sufficient and we risk getting he youngsters wanting out to a club that guarantees top level football
All of this is a moot point, because it suggests that ENIC actually have a plan, and it's not just based on the fact that their entertainment business now makes so much money (and they will soon make so much money from the hotel and property empire they are building around the ground) that the
It won’t pay off because, before those players reach their peak the failure to achieve any level of success will mean that they will choose to leave. This is what will happen with Romero and It’s what happened with Modric, Bale and Kane. The club doesn’t care because they will make a good profit
Maybe, but the problem with Modric & Bale wasn't that they left, it's that we stopped buying players like them, & didn't have their replacements coming though.
If Bale & Modric had more players of a similar level around them, things would have been different.
The club's 'plan' is all well and good, but everyone last year could see we were short at LB, LCB, 6, RW, STx2 and a GK and we've really only brought in two or three players from the 7 that we needed to avoid a similar injury crisis to 23/24. And now we have that injury crisis, but
I’m gonna play devils advocate here. What if the plan was to sign some established names in the summer so they have cleared the decks and got wheels in motion to splurge but the current situation has stymied that planning. They don’t want to spend massively now because it disrupts the plans in place
also keep in mind that we’d bought vuscovic, bergvall and had plans for yang by summer and followed that up with gray and odobert, after heavy links to doue.
that debt is an incredible deal - average interest rate of 2.8% and average maturity of 20 years... maybe 20-25M in interest payment.they're likely just paying interest + minimal required principal
You are completely right, and unfortunately the fan base has lost complete faith it will be improved upon. It was strange to see the dejected atmosphere after the game yesterday, not anger, just acceptance that of course we were going to get beaten if we play kids every 3 days.
Thank you. It's obfuscation re:net spend as that is always banked within club (and ultimately sale) value. True investment is wage ratio to turnover and thus 1st team calibre/world class players. Board should just admit that they now model us on Dortmund's model of young talent destination
Which clearly is what they are attempting however that is difficult to stomach given the ticket prices we pay, the manner in which they have taken confessions away and the extracurricular revenue generating events that the stadium holds..We pay M&S prices to be given Aldi food (and I shop at Lidl!)
I've always been a big defender of Levy, and I think overall he's been a huge net positive for Spurs. However, the blame for the way this season has gone falls squarely at his feet.
Do you think removing a lot deadwood over the last year has played a part as those were on high wages? Thinking in terms of rebuild has been younger players and only now experience, which means higher wages, is being added.

Spurs are at the beginning of building
the club has shed further high salaries, brought in younger, less well paid players and now have european football.
it’s currently closer to 35%.
it’s not just for the club to be sold.
the new numbers are dramatic, but not unfamiliar at spurs.
