this year’s discourse has really driven home how dem consultants have spent so much time mad at nader and jill stein that they’ve convinced themselves that “leftist” means “non-voter”

just flatly, gore won florida, republicans stole the election, and for a variety of reasons i don’t find “they couldn’t have stolen florida if the margin was slightly larger” plausible
that and/or they look at the 2020 campaign and the first few months of the administration, passing and trying to pass things which overwhelmingly pleased a huge range of supporters including leftists and liberals, and said, OMG that's so embarrassing, we're never doing that again
Remember, just a couple months in to the administration as it was passing things very successfully and constantly, the typical s***bags started complaining that Democrats were passing too much with just Democrats and not with Republicans, and it was a complete record scratch moment
like you really can trace the exact moment Biden went from having a string of policy victories and good vibes to always being on his back foot and unwilling to accomplish anything to the moment he replaced ron klain with zients. just atrocious instincts
you regularly get a 'they don't vote for us anyway' kind of statement and to the extent that is true- they are unreachable - yes, correct, do not chase them! HOWEVER...
Certainly, people on the left—no matter how critical of Biden—are much more likely to vote for him than republicans are. Why this obvious fact is routinely ignored by the people running campaigns (and their cheerleaders) is an open question
Because for a lot of Democratic movers and shakers, Republicans are the kinds of voters they would prefer to have, leftists are the kind of voters they will grumblingly accept at best but make sure nobody thinks they're catering to them.
despite running as far to the right as possible, hillary didn’t pick up any nevertrumpers, and biden didn’t pick up any nevertrumpers in 2020, but THIS time…
there are some of those lefties they imagine who will always vote for a "jill stein" or whoever fills that slot, but those people aren't the ones they're getting mad at online
As one of those leftists I can say we're actually really easy to turn. Ban ATM fees or robocalls or some equally low hanging fruit and you've got quite a few of us.

That was democrats!
To blame Nader at any point is to ignore arithmetic
Wait, no, that was Tom Daschle, leader of the Senate Democrats. Never mind.
