The conversation about gun violence always stops with the guns. While I support responsible and regulated gun ownership, that doesn’t do enough to talk about the root causes of violence.

It comes down to emotional intelligence, if a person only knows happy and angry, and they can’t be too happy because it might be labeled negatively, than when they encounter adversity, they let anger build up and become violent. When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
When we talk about gun reform, the right minimizes it to the basics, like they do with many issues. Should the government take away your guns? It’s easy to see why they say no. We need to expand the issue and talk about how we actually reduce violence and protect children.
