uhm, i read that more as "here's how you can still leverage Tailwind (by using its built-in tokens) if you want a regular, native CSS class-writing experience" rather than "this is how you should do it, the standard". Tailwind's still about no separation of concerns, but integratable with CSS!

I don't get this at all. they tried to implement all the css spec in html classes to cater to *ease* of development with *inline* as they called it, styles. this is such a bad design that I have nothing to add. just use @stylexjs.bsky.social or css-modules. that's it.

Tailwind in my opnion is just an utils package for atomic css noting more.

Complex and high customizable css still way better on a separeted sheet, and modules can handle conflicts. Thats why a lot of frameworks use it as a scope control.

Dont know, maybe Im old, but it feels unnecessary for me.

i read “when you need to add truly custom” to mean this is for the corner cases that the utility classes don’t cover, or styling html content that you don’t own

what url are the v4 screenshots from? last i checked, they explicitly call out that this is generally an antipattern for normal TW usage

The "corner cases" you are referring too are the common cases any web developer will face, that's the nature of CSS.

"custom" is not an option, it's the main purpose of CSS.

tw utility classes can handle 99.9% of the css i’d write, making those the standard cases

i get the sense tw isn’t for you, and that’s okay! not everyone will like every tool

I like how Tailwind also was opinionated, giving us a limited set of tokens. That era ended when they introduced "square bracket notation"

When I see stuff like that especially the more complex ones with calc make me scream. For my astro site I moved back to scss modules with utility classes
