Two surgeries this month. Removed: both ovaries, her uterus, a mammary gland, and her spleen. If she pulls through, her spleen may make her famous among guinea pig specialists.

I’ve been telling her that once she gets better she can use all that extra room for #snac.
She’s also so full of staples that I’ve warned her to cancel any flights she was planning to take. TSA will definitely think she’s up to no good and be patting her down.
In the picture they showed me from her procedure, it looked enormous, though they don’t have results from the tissue samples back to say if it’s cancer. Can’t rule out that it’s related to infection. She had a persistent vaginal infection that started before I adopted her six months ago.
Guinea pigs can have a lot go wrong, but spleen problems are not one of them. They researched online and found only one other documented case anywhere. My vet is a researcher. She’s bound to publish something on a rarity of this sort.
That is amazing. Sounds like you have the right vet! And that your guinea pig may be my spleen spirit animal - there were only 7-8ish known cases of my spleen issue in the medical literature 🤣. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
