The River Weaver flows through Nantwich and meanders through Cheshire roughly northwards until it flows into the Manchester Ship Canal (before the Ship Canal was constructed it flowed into the River Mersey). Love this picture from our friends at the Catalyst Museum.

Adjacent to Winnington and Wallerscote Works there is the forgotten area called 'Poverty Creek'. Just left on the River Weaver past the swing bridge towards Barnton is an area where salt boats used to lie there when trade was bad.
