I could imagine directing researchers to non-governmentally controlled, community-governed open-access repositories where they can share their manuscripts. I may know of one that would be happy to support such work.

Love that idea! I'm also interested in public actions, like a global statement, shared widely (as in published in many, many journal editorial statements and institutional/organizational websites), condemning government censorship and interference signed by scholars, libraries, publishers, etc.

An editorial in Nature or Science by leaders in this field fully articulating the science and scholarship and calling out misguided, ideologically driven actions, which lead to unfounded censorship such as this, would be great to see.

Is financing for scientific journals sufficiently independent to be able to continue to publish, store, distribute on all relevant topics? Is there otherwise need to improve the online repositories with an (independent) review process? Are data from large epid studies being backed up? How to access?
