🧵 I'm struggling to see exactly how this SCOTUS ruling is a win for the White House. Seems like a wash at best. Per the 9-0 part of the decision, the court has concluded:

-The way Trump used the Alien Enemies Act last month, effectively, was improper because of the lack of notice.

I’m with you Elizabeth. This is dismal. The govt all but admitted Garcia is wrongfully/illegally imprisoned and no redress? No habeas for any of the others and no redress? We are a law of nations, how can we not hold to the law?

I completely appreciate what you're saying. My progressive parents met at Corcoran and Rowe in the early 70's. Though not an attorney myself, I was raised with a subtler appreciation of the law than most. I immediately registered your concerns and the appropriate despair. My thoughts are with you.

I was never optimistic that laws/the constitution would hold. Trump has laughed at & abused the legal system his entire adult life. His GOP enablers quickly followed suit. Bought themselves a corrupt SCOTUS majority. + a psycho Nazi billionaire. Now, we must save ourselves. We must be the heroes.
