These old huts in the Upper Nevis tell us so much about our past, the hint of a community form days gone by, but also of the new repurposed & evolving needs they meet in the 21stC.

Did they have power all the way up there, or a telephone line?

Was just in the Subaru, the streams were low & the boggy bits at the southern end were as dry as a bone. I'd go in from the Northern end that way you get to see heaps of it before the first fords.

Nice. Yeah plan will be in at Bannockburn and probably out the same way. Have a proper 4x4 so fords are no drama, but not planning to push it without a mate and recovery kit

Been a few buildings I've thought about capturing on my way up or down the North Island, old barns, abandoned buildings that time has taken over.

I mean, I'm in no way as steeped in it as you are either, so I just like to poke away (so I don't forget actual photography lessons, but mainly so my bro's camera gear isn't wasted. It's manual stuff, requires my mind to work harder! And he'd spin in his grave if I didn't do *something* with it!)
