People would definitely have to be paid off by the government to dislike a song where the voice of a 9 year old makes fun of your tiny dick. It must be a plot by the government to kneecap the radical anti government actions of the vocaloid community.

I generally dont argue with people on bsky but I do not like how the "government agent" meme has spread out of political circles where it had a shred of plausiblity into the general discourse, allowing people to think they're brave rebels for posting and anyone who disagrees with them must be paid

This is probably a waste of my time but the argument was never "the toxic discourse is the goal of the feds". My argument is starting and participating in toxic discourse is a shortcut for a fed to gain people's trust and blend in. Outrage is the easy way to gain community influence.

We see it all the time in altright spaces with grifters. Finding a random thing to whip up your target group's moral anger and focusing it at an outside enemy is an easy way to get in with a group of people. Starting moral purity witch hunts is also a great way to undermine inconvenient people.

Also for what it's worth, while there's nothing to say that account was actually CIA, it's definitely a sockpuppet. A friend wondered if that person truly did the work to pretend to be in the fandoms they purported to be a part of, and I checked they just absolutely weren't.

I've tried to find any sign of them having posted about enjoying the things they purport to love, show any affection for a character obsessively the way a fandom-brained teen would, and just zilch, nada. Whose sockpuppet it is, who knows. But that account certainly wasn't a real person.

I mean while it is possible to stir up moral anger for personal benefit I don't really see evidence of any personal benefit happening here. If they're similar to grifters, you'd need to identify the actual grift; to what end would they be doing this?

Like you talk about "undermining inconvenient people" but I don't think that there's serious enough anti government organizing in the vocaloid fandom for that to be worth this kind of infiltration and anything more serious is not dependent enough on that fandom to be crippled by drama in it
