Wes himself was thinking about how he'd turn the intruder into minced meat as they made their way to the location. But then they entered the underground chamber and... the nightmare began. Like a blur, the vigilante they'd read about in the papers was making short work of their men.

Intentionally throwing himself into the largest group of enemies, the Nightbringer made sure that the thugs wouldn't try to shoot at him, lest they hit their fellows. Wes had no such reservations, though. He grabbed his Tommy gun and, despite Fish's protests, opened fire on the caped lunatic.

The bullets struck down several thugs before one actually pinged off Nightbringer's armor. Wes held down the trigger as he tried to aim at the constantly moving shape. That damn cape. He had no idea where the vigilante's body was at any time. A searing pain shot up his gun hand.

He looked down. A throwing knife was embedded in his wrist, his fingers loosening. Before he could bark an order at Fish, the dark shape was on him, wrapping him up in torn, thick cloth and throwing him onto the floor.

Fish could only stare in horror and listen to the noises and screams from under the cape. Nightbringer then rose, looking at Fish. Under him lay Wes, all the fingers on both his hands bent and twisted at unnatural angles.
"P-Please... not the face again," pleaded Fish to the approaching avenger.
