Defense is just insurance. It is a portion of production invested to cover future risks and the current risk seems far from zero... Then, it drives an industry, translating into income for the workers, and so future revenue for the state.

All loans can always be explained for the future security and wellness it brings to them, the next generation. We did not save enough but they can. They have no need of loan for their own needs or for their own kids. Sounds a great plan.

The context here is that there are many, _many_, MANY examples of us Finns shooting ourselves in our own foot due to our sometimes quite hysterical and moralistic disgust of debt. Ryti's statement embodies this line of thinking, which remains incredibly strong even today.

Finland does have bit of a deficit problem, because our population is aging very fast and the hoped-for economic growth hasn't manifested (partly because the population is aging). That said, we aren't particularly indebted compared to Euro average...

The figures are scary because they are in billions but any private individual generally gets into debt much more than 100% of their annual income when they want to buy a house, for example.

tuottavuus ei ole kasvanut, ongelma siinä. normi taloudessa 3% vuoteen kasvaa tuottavuus. (toi 3% oli kansiksen oppikirjoissa 90 luvulle asti)

The "we promise to stop the debt" right-wing government has only one crisis - Ukraine and defence expenditures - to deal with, but it is already on track to take 55,8 bn by end of term in 2027.

If no further surprises occur.

Of course, there are couple of bn € of tax breaks funded by debt too.

Ja tämä mies tuomittiin lopulta syyllisenä sotaan. Ehkä sitä kannattaisi välillä ottaa varman päälle. Heikkoa johtajuutta, jos ei pysty tässä tilanteessa perustelemaan puolustuksen priorisointia. Mieluummin velkaa ja veroja, kuin suomalaiset nettivideoilla teloitettavina antauduttuaan.

NL kuitenkin painosti tuomitsemaan rikollisena ja maailma hyväksyy yhä NL:n version historiasta Euroopan pelastajana, vaikka se sai itse sen mitä lähti Hitlerin kanssa 1939 havittelemaan. Kysy vaikka Trumpilta. Sodassa ei ole moraalisia voittajia, joten ne kannattaa voittaa.

Rytikin oli sitten lopulta ihminen, ja ihmiset tekee aina virheitä. Sotiminen varsinkin on sarja isoja virheitä, jossa yhden tai pari virhettä vähemmän tehnyt saattaa lopulta voittaa.

Sille nostan hattua, että otti vastuun ja riskin 1944. Ja joutui siitä kans maksamaan. Voittajan oikeuttahan se.

Liittyy ainakin siihen, että Ryti sitoutui henkilökohtaisesti Suomen puolesta jatkamaan sotaa 1944 Saksan rinnalla kun Saksa asetti siihen sitoutumisen ehdoksi aseavun jatkamiselle. Tämä on sitten nähty tietoisena ratkaisuna jolla Suomi saattoi irtautua sodasta sen jälkeen kun Ryti erosi.

Ryti on mielenkiintoinen esimerkki historiastamme. Mielestäni Ukrainan mineraalisopimuksessa ja Ryti-Ribbentrop sopimuksessa on joitakin yhtymäkohtia, Ryti laittoi päänsä pölkylle ja pelasti Suomen. Toivottavasti Purran ei tarvitse pelastaa mainettaan samalla tavalla muutaman vuoden päästä.
