The problem with this is that someone could register a domain very similar to yours - in your case, it’s not even your actual name, just as mine isn’t - making it look just as real as yours is. They do need a better system of verification.

It’s called typosquatting. Major companies protect against it by registering lots of possible misspellings of their domain. But individuals can’t afford that.
