It started with avoiding cancerous causing nitrates in cured meats and over the course of time turned to vegetarianism and ultimately a complete transition to plant based Whole Foods. It’s been a 40 year journey and often a lonely one.
After I was on a WFPB diet for close to a year and thriving, animal ethics really started to make sense to me. I wrestled with the concept for a while, but the definition of veganism seemed to help me see that I could grow into it as I kept learning to do better. I used to hunt & fish too...
Health reasons. Cardiovascular issues run marathons in my family so I cut out meat to lessen my chances of developing anything. Wasn’t able to go fully vegan until 4 years later, but wanted to go vegan about 4-6 months after I became a vegetarian
None. I didn't know what vegetarianism was when I became a vegetarian. It was a decision in response to a cruel truth I had randomly discovered on the internet - the inhumane treatment of abattoir animals. I was already on the road to becoming vegan before I knew what veganism was. 🤔
I started vegetarianism as a personal challenge, for no real reason.
Then, once I could look at it without desperately having to defend eating meat, I realized it's the right thing to continue and go vegan.
Meat eater cope is powerful in any meat eater who isn't a psychopath or an ignoramus.
That was pretty much it for me as well. I was coincidentally eating vegan (already vegetarian) for health reasons, but as I found out more about the egg & dairy industries it became intentional.
it was an employee health scan .. they put me in the stroke category.. overweight and miserable. my cholesterol was through the roof . i googled cholesterol free diets and vegan 🌱 came up . later i watched earthlings and became an ethical vegan .🌱

Life is of equal value & I knew humans are animals too.

It always seemed like some utopian, theoretical thing that's impossible to do in the back of my head.
Learning how normal people, healthy people, fastfood people, rich, poor, famous, weirdos etc exist that happen to be vegan.. Made me deep dive.
