i wish rail would come back to my island. people who commute between the town of Duncan and the city of Victoria (with an often congested mountain pass in the way) would love if even that part came back.

I'm small-town/rural, so i need my little old truck but i sure don't need to drive it every day

we could do so much with rail transit here! This spur line i'm walking on is incredibly scenic in parts, i'm sure the European tourists who already visit in droves would just go bonkers for it. And it, too, would save people from having to commute over another pass which often has dangerous weather

The original valve boxes were located in very inaccessible locations and mirrored in design. The iconic look, along with a number of other Pensy locos, was designed by the same person who designed the iconic Coke bottle shape. Oh, and it's the fastest steam engine. Fight me.

The fastest 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘥 speed was set by the Mallard. It's a beautiful locomotive, and I like it as well. However, the T1 far exceeded this top speed while routinely making up for a slipped schedule, but wasn't officially recorded. This is what the "fight me" is in reference to.

In general, they could maintain boiler pressure regardless of throttle position. It weighed nearly a million lbs loaded. 5500 was converted to a Franklin type B rotary-cam style, which ended up being more reliable.

Prototype 6111 had a small booster engine in the trailing wheels. The rumor that they were prone to slipping was from a single incident where it was overloaded. The maintenance was tough because they frequently exceeded their designed max speed of 100mph.
