the flow chart at the end does a great job of summarizing the rest of the thread, which is why i posted it solo.
it suggests that both reactionaries & revolutionaries are created via a similar initial model of radicalization, despite having *very* different ideologies & morals.
let’s compare these two dynamics.
a classic example is wealthy conservatives who try to pit workers against one another based on traits like their gender, race, faith, etc:
They were certainly violent extremists, but motivated by a clear understanding these oligarchs were stealing from them.
the outcome is very dependent on whether they incorrectly displace the cause of their suffering onto an “other” or instead recognize the unjust hierarchies truly harming them.
