So much this. White collar crimes tears at the social fabric and in reality simply outsources the violence to the state and other institutions: evictions, loss of medical care, loss of pensions; both physical and mental harms.

Elon Musk has been a walking SEC violation for a decade and no one cared. The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime.
