Empires and imperialism obviously bad and wrong, but fascinating how any Angolan music I've heard has clearly been influenced by Brazilian stuff. Whether via Portugal, or directly, I have no idea... but, having 'done my research' (5 mins) there is a theory that the samba went west first....
