Irredentist sentiment still runs strong in Hungary. They lost a lot of territory and population in the Treaty of Trianon at the end of WW I, including Transcarpathian Ruthenia, now part of Ukraine. I wouldn’t be surprised if Orban harbors ambitions to ally with Russia to carve up Ukraine.
