Storage is pretty cheap these days. The "diamond open access" Journal of Open Source Software shared an interesting breakdown of their costs some years ago, stating it'd be $100/paper without volunteer work on the IT side:

In general, JOSS is a great and very innovative journal. And certainly a good example that we can achieve below $100 costs/publication.
Actually, even lower costs would be easily possible. For example, ArXiv has below $10/paper AFAIK.

Happy to elaborate here. Right now, the publishing fees are all being put back into the maintenance and development of our peer review and publishing platform. I cashed in my pension from working at a university to start @stacksjournal.bsky.social, and to go from nothing to something is hard!

It totally depends on how much it costs to run and maintain the platform over time.
