The Supreme Court's role is to interpret the law, not demonstrate obedience to individuals. Democracy is not threatened by the Court's independence, but rather by unfounded claims of its potential subservience to particular individuals.

My take is that SCOTUS will pause to consider 2 things. One, history and especially so for Roberts. Not sure he wants to be the one who pulls the plug on democracy. And two, one branch giving up nearly all its constitutional power? I think not.
