I put the Women's Bill of Rights note in, because Section 1 of the bill is almost an exact duplicate of Independent Women's Voices'/(Forum's) model bill of that same title, released 3 years ago and which has shown up in over 100 other bills. The removal of anti-discrimination protections is new.

right now, i don't think the turnout is a surprise. out of 1591 public comments, a whopping 1560 (98.1%) are against and only 31 (1.9%) are for.

I was reading through the public comments last night, and at least two of the “pro” look like they were accidentally marked as pro, because the text of several of them was essentially “I’m pro civil rights for trans people. Accounting for that, fewer than 30, possibly below two dozen “pro”

Thank you for covering this. I fear this will set an awful precedent for other red states. I hope I'm wrong, but they seem to be in a race to the bottom.
