If this is what’s happened, perhaps countries with high % rates could get ICANN to give them a new TLD for some obscure island, and then it’d just have Trump’s default 10% tariff rate (as has happened with France).

Expect exports to US from Guadeloupe and Martinique to rocket!

And yes, the penguins in the now famous Heard and Mcdonald Islands have their own domain TLD of .hm.

Good theory in the comments from @richholman.com and @holgate.permanent.red that they probably used the ISO-3166-1 country code list that maps to TLDs, and possibly got it via ChatGPT.

I guess ChatGPT needed to be given a better crafted prompt by Big Balls to use the WTO list of countries instead of the ISO 2-letter list used for ICANNs domain TLDs.
Almost like incel tech warriors with magic AI aren't the best people to run government.
