They were a fantastic three-piece, formed in the early '90s. You may struggle to find them on streaming services, but there's definitely some stuff up on YouTube.

Nadine is a wonderful tune, but I definitely recommend digging a little deeper. If you can find their debut 'Need For Not', then I'm sure you'll love it. Their second album is up on Bandcamp, recorded in '94 and finally released in 2015.

I get that completely. I heard them first via the 'Lonely Is An Eyesore' compilation, but nothing prepared me for just how good their albums are. My own starting point was 'In The Realm Of A Dying Sun', which is an astonishing record.

Dr Phibes - amazing band, saw them live a few times & they were stunning. For me, Whirlpool was / is an absolute classic. I'm a bit late to the party (not unusual for me) but I've just started to get into The Chameleons, it's joyous knowing there is so much good music out there waiting for me... x

You're definitely on a pathway to good music. I got into The Chameleons in around '86 and have never looked back.

Phibes were absolutely amazing, and their story is very sad. You likely know that Howard was jailed, but I learnt that he died just a few weeks ago.

Yes, me too, but sadly there's more. Lee (bass) also died about 8 years ago or so. Keith (drums) is teaching in the midlands, according to what I last heard.

Their music has never been reissued and really deserves to be.

I was in the early 90s Nottingham music scene, and when Ant (famous for dancing onstage with Nirvana at Reading) left Bivouac, I suggested they take Keith to replace him. Which they did. They also managed to half inch my copies of Whirlpool and Hypnotwister.

I hope that you were able to obtain copies of the albums since then. They don't pop up often, but I see them from time-to-time. It took me a while to find everything. This one, a limited picture disc box set of 'Sugarblast' was made just for the band & crew, and I managed to find one on eBay!

Saw them live 5 or 6 (maybe more) times. Absolutely mesmerising.
To the point where Howard snapped a string and replaced it during a song, and that action became part of the solo.
(Probably at the Derby Warehouse)

All three were insanely talented. I'd never heard them before wandering across to hear them at Reading Festival in 1991, and like you say, they were completely mesmerising. I felt like my feet were nailed to the floor, I was completely captivated by that performance.
