PSA: I know some things may differ per person but these are the settings I recommend.
To get started with ad settings:
Go to your creator dashboard and go to Monetization -> Ads
If you've ever joined a stream and gotten hit with an ad immediately and left, this setting stops that happening to your stream!
It's a huge factor in why people click off streams, so make sure it's gone.
This is the minimum to fully disable pre-roll ads (as you can see in the screenshot). You can do more but this is my setting as someone unconcerned with ad revenue.
This is personal preference but I personally would prefer more ads once every hour than half the ad time every 30 minutes. I think it means there is a lot less disruption to your stream that way.
Go to Stream Manager and hover the layout -> Edit stream manager panels
Hover the plus bar on the side and add ad scheduling (if it isn't already on your stream manager page)
With this on your screen, make sure you save your layout changes.
Copy the link from the popout and go to OBS.
Go to Docks -> Custom Browser Docks and add in your link, calling it ad, etc.
