An anecdote isn’t the same as data, obviously, but my fifth graders just wrapped up learning about WW2 and it was the social studies topic they found the most interesting so far.

Not joking here. Um, do younger people in the US literally not know how bad the Nazis were? Do they think they were just someone we once fought, but don’t understand what a force for evil and genuine existential threat they were? Has education fallen that far by the wayside? They know, right? Right?
