Reason 2: I think we feel more emotionally distanced from Cromwell’s actions in this series - it’s hard to understand why he does some of the things he does. This is true of the book, too.
But, because of the kind of narrator she’s established in the first two books, it’s not possible for the reader to put their finger on HOW he’s unreliable (plus, you’re not expecting him to be, cos he’s not in the first two books).
