My dad used to call it a chesterfield. He was a WWII refugee from Eastern Europe who learned to speak English from Graphic Novels while working in logging camps in BC. He always had some funny phrases for things!
My grandma said Chesterfield when referring to a couch. She was from Chicago so maybe it was a regional thing? I think Chesterfield was the brand, like calling tissue Kleenex, they called the couch a Chesterfield. I think itβs kinda cool now. Grandma knows best π
Yes, for me too, growing up in Saskatchewan. But the word 'chesterfield' isn't used as much anymore. Maybe because 'couch' is easier to say and type, lol?
I just like that we went sideways for a moment, from the convo about the epic orange demon and his evil minions β¦ to discuss ~ chesterfields vs couches. A short polite intermission. Ha. Now, back to being pissed off.
I'm in BC. The only person I've ever heard use it is my dad's neighbour. Everybody else I know or heard says "couch". Very occasionally "sofa", but almost always "couch".

But yes, Vance does seem to be into couches.
