It's crazy that pokemon pocket fixed so many of the issues of the regular pokemon TCG, but it still just doesn't feel great to play. It's a shame, it's fun right until you start actually trying to play competitive imo

I don't understand why it is so unsatisfying. The wins feel mediocre and the losses are frustrating, even if you don't have to constantly face hard meta decks. Maybe a balance patch might help, but idk if that would even fix it
Yeah, the card selection feels a little...simple? Maybe its also a lack of options in non-pokemon cards, but I often feel like I've won or lost in the first few turns, and there's little I can draw to turn things around.
It's really simplified except for water which either wins a few coin tosses and wins on the spot or loses the coin tosses and can't keep up with the normal tempo of the game
Yeah, I hate playing against water (The recent event has shown that as well) because they have so many cheap cards that win on coin flips and just....that doesn't feel good to win or lose against.
It's really awesome that at a moments notice they can just hit you with an attack powerful enough to kill a basic pokemon if they get lucky
Also starmie ex needs to die, fuck this event
Also also why print a card that can put energy on pokemon and then allow attacking going first
Yeeaaahh...and overall the event isn't giving you more cards to combat it, just promos (which I like, only promos as event rewards is a good system) which makes the event feel like its showing off the worst of the limited system.
One thing I've noticed is you're basically forced to play monotype decks, because with only three kills to win there's really not a lot of time to build up energy, so in a world with no Energy Search running two types is just shooting yourself in the foot
Which is a damn shame because I always liked running multi-type decks. One of the things I like about Pokemon is that there's a bit more flexibility in deckbuilding, whereas with Yugioh you're pretty much tied to one archetype (+ maybe a support archetype like Lightsworn or something)
And then there’s Pikachu, which is deliberately designed to walk face first into a bunch of design problems because marketable, and Misty, who fails lessons they learned on energy acceleration decades ago.
I understand what you mean. I'm hoping as we get more expansion packs down the line, it'll allow the meta to breathe and not be revolved around 3-4 decks without much variety. Being forced to play Mewtwo ex and Pikachu ex to grind out this current pvp event has gotten stale quickly.
