To understand the life of a person with cPTSD, is to understand they’ve experienced multiple traumas and after each one, people normalized their pain, rather than making the traumas stop.

💯 If you were an abused child, adults will normalize your trauma symptoms - s/he’s shy, bratty, crybaby, whatever - and treat them like personality traits. Anything but adress the abuse.
And that once we’ve lived through something that was supposed to kill us, a) we’re not gonna wanna repeat it again and b) we’re not gonna be easy to manipulate with scarcity or shame threats.
The very sad moment in two movies, Whiplash being one of them, where the evil "mentor/dad" says, "see all of my abuse was worth it because ..." And the victim is confounded by the idea of saying "thank you, may I have another."
