I have PTSD and group therapy has taught me that some traumatized people heal by becoming empathetic, and others wall themselves off and insist that nobody has suffered as badly as they have. That second group turns mean and ends up pushing people away. I see that in JKR, just on a grand scale.

As I understand it, she started out in a "I hate all men" sort of way at some point, then backed off from that (in part I believe because she's still attracted to men, and in part because she decided she didn't want to fight the patriarchy) and switched trans women in as placeholders.

Not to forget - it isn't uncommon, that people who got abused, fall into an abuser-role themself. Victims of bullying tend to do that, for example, so they have some upper hand over someone else and don't feel powerless again.
She is doing exactly this and becomes a piece of garbage this way.

Sadly i have to agree. Most people become fricking bullshit when there is money and power involved. Those, who are fine, are probably pretty quiet anyway.
I wouldn't be surprised, if there would be racism involved too when it comes to her.
