There's literaly an mRNA vaccine to treat pancreatic cancer in the works. It's shown promising results in a Phase 1 trial. Most people with pancreatic cancer are dead within 5 years. It's what killed Patrick Swayze.

State legislatures are their labs for this sort of thing, and the dismantling of the public-private medical research sector is pretty much going to kill off this research domestically

Many varieties of cancer are a candidate for some sort of mRNA vaccine or other gene expression treatment. For many, it’s the only real current hope for maybe getting to remission.

Republicans are in favor of taking away that hope. Fuck that.

My wife died two years ago tomorrow. She lived with a mild form of CF, a disease that gene expression therapy turned from deadly to annoyingly chronic.

The same medical miracle did not arrive in time to treat her cancer, but I hope it does someday.

Why do Republicans not want to cure cancer?
