ughhhh thats lame as fuck. imo, if the govt practically forces me to take out large amounts of money while i’m still a teenager, then tells me i don’t have to pay it back for over 7 years and waits til i’ve been out of college for 3 years to ask for it back, that’s on them. like ??
Realistically: you’ll default and your credit will tank. You won’t be able to qualify for a home loan, auto loan, or a credit card with a reasonable interest rate (if at all); you’ll be turned down for rental housing; you’ll be rejected from certain jobs for having poor credit.

If you default, your wages might get garnished. Your tax refund will be withheld. If they're private loans, the lender might sue you.
source: I've thought about doing this 🥲
Not paying back student loans is a huge gamble but it won’t necessarily ruin your life, just the next ten years or so of it.
