US support for Ukraine was always restricted to ensure Ukraine does not defeat Russia.
Loss of US support also means Europe is no longer bound by US-imposed redlines.
Ukraine & Europe are now aligned in their interest to defeat Russia.
The band-aid needed to be ripped off.

Between Russian sellouts in the US government, or older politicians who aren't pro Russia, but believe it's still the Soviet Union of the 1970s.
The US government, generally, is too damned old and too damned compromised.
We’ve had generations of incompetent foreign policy experts create this mess.
They're neoliberals and rent-seekers who tested their ideas in the 90s with shock therapy. Putin was the pioneer of their ideal model of society and demonstrated how to get there.
Yeltsin was the Millei of the 90s.
The issue is our leadership has incompetent foreign policy experts and are more religious conservative, aligning more with anti-West and pro-Russian values.
Are you seriously telling me those clowns only exist because of Russia?
Even John Bolton, is not really all that good at this stuff.
These people, and many similar, are why we are in this absurd mess.
Please get a better grounding for your political philosophy.
No man, Russia only props up conservatives nowadays is because, they learned from the 90s.
Dems are not liberals. They are just secular collectivists, as opposed to the religious collectivists of the GOP.
Liberalism offers no counter measures from them taking power. Even as they destroy everything, doing something about them is "authoritarian" or "communist".
So they saw an opportunity in the USSR collapse, and they studied how it played out.
All the while we have dumb liberals with their useless mythology, still obsessing over the canonical villain that is Russia, thinking that there is something uniquely magically bad with Russia.
Those types of people tend to have gross reactionary opinions, which think should be the dominant ideology of the planet.
And now they don't need this mythology. They've secured enough power to bypass it.
I actually wonder if Scholz was responsible for some of those Baltic cable incidents after he spent so long dragging his anchor.
If not, Europe needs to mobilise for war. They can easily crush Russia, but I don’t see it happening.
