You've made a point I was going to make. My top 10 gets harder and harder every year so I just recognise that certain songs will always score highly and I try to vote with my gut and heart. I'm 44 so there's a 90s bias, I can't deny that. Still, all adds up eh.
I got so overwhelmed making my list I decided to only submit non-qualifiers from the last ten years bc I figure all the heavy hitters are already getting their votes.
Between Euro-Vision and Rendez-Vous, Belgium was in a really good place in the early 80s. Two of their best entries, and two of the most underrated ones if you ask me!
I don't enjoy french, so I can probably not judge this without bias. The host sitting on the stage bored during the performances was certainly a choice though (obviously not by the delegations :D).
In all seriousness, my bucket overflowed sometime around 2003 and new stuff has to work REALLY hard not to just slop over the sides. Shum would probably make my list, but dropping Krøller Eller Ej to make room would cause me angst.
Sadly i need to agree with the mid staging choice. But glad it triggers me a bit to take a look on how vocal groups like il volo/rasmussen should be staged
My submitted esc250 is rather in newer side but if i have determination to create another account (and get stressed again), i'll defnitely put christer björkman's 1992 entry in the list (the rest of the list is history)
