I’m guessing this robot had a little bodywork done and got a job working in the movies for Fritz Lang.

Gakutensoku, a robot built in Japan in the late 20s. Designed by biologist Makoto Nishimura, with the intention that it would be a friend and inspiration to people in contrast to the slave robots of Karel Čapek's R.U.R. Its current whereabouts are unknown as it was lost during a tour of Germany.
